The following steps worked for me

Nb:back up your current rom in cwm first incase of trouble....

unlock ur bootloader first

1.flashed cwm,open it,factory reset,clear cache, dalvik
2.restored the kitkat back up  https://goo.gl/37hZQY
3.open kitkat os....and again reboot to cwm recovery
4.install from external sd card android5.1  http://d-h.st/I9Fm
5.open lolipop5.1
[nb: there is a chance your sims will not detect since we factory reset it]
6.flashed phils recovery.....open it,
7.The philz has a problem[in our case God Given]on reboot it will flash back a stock recovery
8.This is the only recovery which can help us
9.Install the 5.1.1 update from external sd card http://goo.gl/tu4ZqT
[Nb in my case iteven repaired the imei ]
10. Volla it has flashed android5.1.1
Now onward you can update OTA updates from phone itself
{since you are using the correct recovery}
